Senior Risk and Compliance Officer – Africa CDC

About the role

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is seeking a Senior Risk and Compliance Officer to strengthen its enterprise risk management, internal control and compliance framework. Reporting to the Head of the Office of Internal Oversight, the incumbent will support the implementation of risk‑based oversight across the organisation’s public‑health programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, refine and roll out an enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, methodology, tools and reporting templates.
• Facilitate periodic identification, assessment, scoring, prioritisation and documentation of strategic, operational, financial, legal, fiduciary, reputational, IT and programme risks.
• Support the development and maintenance of compliance and ethics controls, including monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
• Conduct internal control reviews and contribute to coordinated oversight across audit, investigations, risk management and compliance functions.
• Prepare risk reports for senior leadership and ensure alignment with donor, regulatory and international standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in risk management, finance, public health, law or a related field.
• Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in risk management, compliance, internal audit or related oversight functions, preferably in a public‑health or international‑development context.
• Strong knowledge of donor requirements, regulatory frameworks and internationally recognised risk‑management standards.
• Proven ability to work independently, analyse complex information and produce clear, actionable reports.
