About the role
Under the supervision of the Chief of Health (P5), the Social & Behavior Change Specialist will lead the design, implementation, monitoring and scale‑up of evidence‑based health SBC and community engagement strategies to improve health outcomes in Ethiopia.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and apply health‑related SBC evidence to inform programme design.
- Design, plan and implement integrated SBC interventions across primary health care, RMNCAH and immunisation.
- Strengthen community engagement, accountability and demand for quality health services.
- Support partnerships, coordination and resource mobilisation for SBC activities.
- Build capacity and systems for sustainable SBC implementation.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in social and behavioural science, public health, communication for development or a related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in SBC, community engagement, risk communication or health promotion.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional UN language or local language is an asset.
Required skills
- Design and implementation of Social and Behavior Change programmes.
- Behavioural research, social listening and evidence generation.
- Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) in development and humanitarian settings.
