Warehouse Assistant – Fixed Term (G-3)

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the senior Warehouse Assistant (GS‑5), the Warehouse Assistant (G‑3) will manage the daily receipt, storage and dispatch of UNICEF supplies in the Addis Ababa warehouse. The role ensures that all items are handled according to product‑specific requirements, FIFO/FEFO principles and security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, unload, stack and store supplies following warehouse procedures and FIFO/FEFO rules.
• Create waybills and update inventory records in the VISION system and bin cards.
• Conduct periodic physical stock counts and report discrepancies, damages or near‑expiry items.
• Support picking, packing, loading and dispatch of supplies to implementing partners and field offices.
• Prepare transport arrangements and dispatch documentation such as gatepasses and waybills.
• Monitor warehouse cleanliness, safety and maintenance of equipment and storage areas.
• Maintain proper filing of warehouse documents and assist with day‑to‑day operations as assigned.
• Perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Ability to follow established warehouse procedures and inventory management principles.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate stock records.
• Physical capability to handle loading and unloading of supplies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using the VISION inventory management system.
