Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Accountant to join our team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial reporting for management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash records.
• Prepare and review journal entries, payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, and other accounting documents.
• Conduct regular bank, cash, supplier, and customer reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts receivable and payable and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Prepare and process VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, pension, and other statutory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.
• Maintain fixed asset and inventory accounting records where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet reporting deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with Peachtree/Sage accounting software.
• Experience with Odoo or other ERP systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to prepare financial statements and management reports.
