Internal Control Officer

About the role

The National Bank of Ethiopia is looking for an Internal Control Officer to oversee internal control functions, review and approve disbursement requests, and help mitigate risk arising from weak controls. The role involves ensuring compliance with the bank’s delegation of authority and promoting a culture of strong financial governance.

Key responsibilities

• Check payment and settlement documents thoroughly before entry.
• Verify that approved payments comply with the bank’s delegation of authority.
• Review and approve disbursement requests and other related requests.
• Perform periodic audits of accounting and financial data across work units.
• Maintain internal control records and recommend improvements to facilities, procedures, and systems.
• Educate employees on bank policies and identify financial strengths and weaknesses.

Required profile

• First degree or higher in Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Auditing, Finance or related fields.
• At least 1 year of experience in an associate/assistant level position, with a maximum age of 40 years.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
