Agronomy Protection Technician

About the role

The Agronomy Protection Technician supports the Agronomy Supervisor in planning, organizing and overseeing pest and disease control activities across nurseries, fields and storage areas. The role ensures safe handling and application of crop protection chemicals while maintaining compliance with environmental, health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise pest, insect and disease control activities across nurseries, fields and storage areas.
• Ensure availability and proper use of chemicals, spraying equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, grower loans and provide timely reporting.
• Track and reconcile crop protection agents, manage inventory and maintain stock control systems.
• Follow spray schedules and implement pest control measures while observing pre‑harvest intervals to prevent residue risks.
• Conduct inspections of nurseries, fields and warehouses to identify and respond to pest and disease threats.
• Promote preventive agronomic practices, including the use of quality seedlings and adherence to agronomic standards.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety and labour regulations in all operations.
• Supervise field staff such as pest assessors and sprayers and oversee reporting accuracy.
• Carry out additional tasks and projects assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Crop Protection, Plant Science or a related field.
• For Bachelor’s degree holders: entry‑level (0 years) experience; for Diploma holders: minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Basic knowledge of safety policies, labour regulations and internal procedures.
