Branch Manager

About the role

The Branch Manager role at Amhara Bank is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The manager oversees daily branch operations, ensuring high‑quality customer service, accurate transaction processing, and strict compliance with banking policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop branch staff while setting performance objectives and fostering an inclusive work environment.
• Drive business growth through local marketing initiatives, community relationship building, and identification of new product and service opportunities.
• Monitor financial performance, manage risk, and prepare periodic performance reports for headquarters.
• Ensure compliance with retail banking operations, risk management, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate implementation of new core banking, digital banking, and strategic initiatives with the head office.

Required profile

• Strong leadership, team‑management and people‑development abilities.
• Solid knowledge of retail banking operations, customer service, and branch‑level risk and compliance practices.
• Financial analysis, planning and basic accounting skills to monitor profitability.
• Business development, sales and relationship‑management experience to expand the customer base.
• Effective communication, negotiation and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; master’s degree or professional banking certification is a plus.
• Relevant banking or financial‑services experience, preferably in branch management or supervisory roles.
• Ability to work on‑site in Addis Ababa and efficiently use core and digital banking systems.
