Carbon Pricing Senior Officer

About the role

The Carbon Pricing Senior Officer will lead the implementation of the Ethiopia Article 6 Readiness project, supporting the government in developing its carbon market framework and priority mitigation activities. Reporting to the GGGI Ethiopia Country Representative, the role ensures high‑quality, timely delivery of project outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all activities of the Ethiopia Readiness project, ensuring alignment with GGGI’s objectives.
• Serve as the primary focal point for the project in Ethiopia, managing stakeholder relationships with government agencies and partners.
• Develop and oversee the preparation of Mitigation Activity Idea Notes (MAINs) and related technical documentation.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical and strategic guidance to project teams.
• Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with Article 6 requirements.
• Facilitate capacity‑building and knowledge‑exchange activities for Ethiopian institutions.

Required profile

• Significant experience in international carbon markets, preferably with exposure to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
• Strong ability to quickly acquire and apply technical knowledge on carbon trading mechanisms.
• Proven project management experience in climate‑related initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
