Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the role

Ethel Holdings PLC, a newly founded holding company in Ethiopia’s IT sector, is seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to build and lead its technology portfolio from the ground up. The CTO will own the end‑to‑end development of multiple digital platforms, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, secure, and user‑friendly across Android, iOS, and web.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full product development lifecycle for all ventures, deciding between building in‑house or purchasing external solutions.
• Define technical strategy, roadmap, and architecture, adapting to local constraints such as low‑bandwidth environments and local payment integrations.
• Deliver each platform simultaneously as native Android, native iOS, and responsive web (PWA or separate web frontend).
• Act as the primary developer and architect in the early stage, establishing coding standards and building initial versions.
• Recruit, hire, and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team including developers, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, DevOps, and support staff.
• Mentor the team, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
