Climate Finance Senior Officer / Project Manager

About the role

The Climate Finance Senior Officer / Project Manager will lead the Phase 2 Transformative Climate Finance Program of the African Union – Green Recovery Action Plan. Based in Addis Ababa and seconded to the African Union Headquarters, the role bridges GGGI and the AU to mobilise green investment across seven member states.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for the TCFP AU‑GRAP Phase 2 implementation.
• Oversee climate‑finance mobilisation, investment pipeline maturation and structuring of bankable projects in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, Lesotho and Namibia.
• Advise the African Union Climate Finance Unit/Desk and act as the primary focal point for donor engagement and project pipeline development.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement, capacity‑building activities and mainstreaming of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in line with national priorities.
• Report to the Africa Regional Director and the AU Head of Sustainable Environment Division, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in climate finance, project management and multi‑country program delivery.
• Strong understanding of African Union processes and green investment mechanisms.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical advisory services and to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in capacity development and GESI mainstreaming is essential.
