Country Director

About the role

The Country Director leads International Medical Corps’ operations in a designated country, providing strategic direction, overseeing program design and implementation, and ensuring safety, security and financial accountability. Reporting to headquarters, the Director is responsible for achieving program objectives while aligning with IMC’s global standards and values.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a country‑specific strategic plan and program proposals in line with IMC’s global framework.
• Coordinate with headquarters and local partners to design, implement and monitor high‑quality programs within budget and timelines.
• Lead the country senior management team, structure the office for efficient operations, and maintain effective communication with HQ.
• Represent the office in UN clusters and other coordination mechanisms to secure funding and partnership support.
• Oversee financial management, reporting, procurement and compliance with donor regulations and local laws.
• Ensure robust monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program outcomes to donors and HQ.
• Manage safety, security and staff welfare, and lead investigations of policy violations when needed.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programs, preferably at country level.
• Strong understanding of program management, budgeting, and donor compliance.
• Excellent advocacy, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and maintain high morale under challenging contexts.
