Country Representative – Ethiopia (Addis Ababa)

About the role

The Country Representative will lead IMPACT Initiatives' mission in Ethiopia, overseeing programme implementation, data‑driven decision‑making and partnership development from the Addis Ababa office. This 12‑month fixed‑term position reports to the regional director and works closely with local stakeholders to strengthen evidence‑based humanitarian actions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all IMPACT initiatives operating in Ethiopia, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
• Oversee data collection, management and analysis activities to support evidence‑based decision‑making before, during and after emergencies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and community groups.
• Manage programme design, assessments, monitoring and evaluation for humanitarian and development projects.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organisational policies and local regulations.
• Represent IMPACT in coordination meetings, advocacy forums and media engagements.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in humanitarian or development programmes, with at least 3 years in senior management.
• Proven track record of leading multi‑disciplinary teams in complex crisis environments.
• Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s political, security and climate‑related challenges.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
