Country Representative – Humanitarian Programs in Ethiopia

About the role

The Country Representative will lead IMPACT Initiatives’ mission in Ethiopia, reporting to the Regional Coordinator for Africa in Geneva. Based in Addis Ababa, the role involves representing IMPACT, managing programmes, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies while working closely with the host organisation Acted.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a Country Strategy aligned with IMPACT’s global objectives and Ethiopia’s humanitarian context.
• Oversee programme planning, implementation and evaluation in coordination with the Deputy Country Representative.
• Identify and secure funding opportunities, lead proposal development and negotiate donor contracts.
• Support Operations Managers and Partnership Officers to build networks and expand reach to hard‑to‑reach communities.
• Manage project budgets, forecast expenses and ensure accurate financial reporting to HQ and Acted.
• Guide and develop the IMPACT team, ensuring performance standards, capacity building and adherence to policies.
• Represent IMPACT with donors, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders, contributing to humanitarian decision‑making forums.
• Uphold data protection standards and maintain confidentiality of collected information.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Social Research or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in an INGO operating in humanitarian contexts, with proven team leadership.
• Strong familiarity with the aid system and research community.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, including experience preparing high‑level presentations and briefings.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask under tight deadlines in complex environments.
