EHS Operations Supervisor

About the role

Vylor, a biotechnology company working on crop science and gene editing, is hiring an EHS Coordinator (listed as EHS Operations Supervisor) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role covers workplace safety, environmental compliance and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures and management systems, and ensure compliance with local legislation, regulations and company standards.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments, and investigate incidents, near misses and safety observations.
• Deliver EHS training and awareness programmes for employees and contractors.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, emissions and hazardous materials handling.
• Support emergency preparedness and response plans, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions from audits and inspections.
• Track and report EHS performance metrics and KPIs, and maintain EHS documentation and regulatory records.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and support contractor safety management and permit-to-work processes.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant EHS certification.
• Previous experience in an EHS or safety coordination role, ideally in agriculture, manufacturing, production, warehousing, logistics or a similar operational environment.
• Good understanding of occupational health, safety and environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting EHS training, contractor safety and corrective action processes.
• Strong written and verbal English.
