Engineering Technician

About the role

The Engineering Technician will respond to guest repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate safely and efficiently within Marriott Executive Apartments in Addis Ababa.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspections of tools, equipment, and HVAC systems.
• Identify, locate, and operate shut‑off valves; maintain inventory and requisition parts as needed.
• Conduct complex repairs on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, and pool‑heater equipment while complying with company standards and local codes.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures, document activities, and hand over shift reports using approved communication tools.

Required profile

• BA degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• Extensive training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, and parts inventory management.
• Valid driver’s license and Universal CFC certification.

Required skills

• Advanced ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC.
• Proficiency in air‑conditioning & refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic/electronic systems.
• Strong knowledge of lockout/tagout safety procedures.
• Experience with preventive‑maintenance and energy‑management computer programs.
