Entomologist

About the role

Wolkite University is seeking a full‑time Entomologist to lead research on insect biology, ecology, and their impacts on agriculture, public health, and the environment. The role is based on‑site in Wolkite and combines scientific investigation with teaching and community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute field and laboratory studies on insect species.
• Identify, classify, and document insect specimens.
• Develop recommendations for pest control and integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Prepare scientific reports, publications, and contribute to university teaching.
• Maintain laboratory safety, accurate records, and uphold ethical research standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Entomology, Zoology, or a closely related field.
• Strong foundation in insect taxonomy, ecology, and biology.
• Experience in pest control and IPM strategy design and evaluation.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and publish findings.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
