Head of Clinic – Migration Health Assessment Centre

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior professional to lead its Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Reporting to senior health programme managers, the Head of Clinic will ensure that health assessments meet the technical standards required by resettlement countries and support humane, orderly migration.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and supervise the full migration health assessment process, including medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management and pre‑departure procedures.
• Conduct clinical assessments for refugees and migrants, reviewing medical histories, performing physical exams, interpreting chest X‑rays and analysing laboratory results according to partner country guidelines.
• Maintain MHAC infrastructure and equipment to meet professional quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate documentation, certification and information transmission to relevant authorities.
• Collaborate with the National Health Operations Officer and other programme staff to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Medical degree with extensive experience in migration health or similar public‑health settings.
• Proven leadership experience managing clinical teams and health facilities.
• Familiarity with international health assessment protocols and resettlement country requirements.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills.
