Health Professional Education Specialist

About the role

The Health Professional Education Specialist provides technical expertise and hands‑on operational support to strengthen pre‑service and in‑service education for nurses, health officers and medical doctors in Ethiopia, with a focus on cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs). The role works closely with training institutions to ensure curricula are relevant, competency‑based and aligned with health system needs.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate CMD content into pre‑service and in‑service curricula.
• Design and deliver training and mentorship programmes for faculty and preceptors.
• Promote modern teaching approaches, including digital and blended learning.
• Support education‑related research and evidence‑based improvements.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of education interventions.

Required profile

• Experience in health professional education or medical training.
• Knowledge of cardiometabolic diseases and their prevention.
• Proven ability to work with universities, government bodies and professional associations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
