Health Safety Environment Officer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and qualified HSE officer to join a long‑term construction project in Ethiopia. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in high‑rise building projects, a solid background in construction HSE management, and internationally recognized safety certifications.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE policies and procedures at the project site.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and applicable standards.
• Monitor construction activities and identify potential safety hazards.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and HSE awareness programs.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Prepare HSE reports, records, and inspection documentation.
• Coordinate with project teams and subcontractors to maintain safe working practices.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the project.

Required profile

• BSc in HSE, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7+ years of relevant HSE experience, including high‑rise building projects.
• Previous experience with international construction companies.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Resident of Ethiopia.

• NEBOSH certification.
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• IOSH Working Safely.
• OSHA 30‑hour certification.
• ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor.
• ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor.
