Legal Consultant for Capacity Building of Judges on GBV

About the role

N4ED seeks a qualified legal consultant to design and deliver a two‑day training for 30 judges in Dire Dawa, enhancing their capacity to handle gender‑based violence (GBV) cases with sensitivity and legal precision.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver training sessions on GBV, covering relevant Ethiopian laws, court procedures, and survivors’ rights.
• Facilitate discussions on fair, respectful case handling while upholding due process and judicial independence.
• Develop simple training materials, legal notes, presentations, and practical case studies.
• Coordinate with other trainers to integrate legal and psychosocial perspectives.
• Provide recommendations for improving judicial handling of GBV cases and submit a concise post‑training report.

Required profile

• Degree in Law (LLB or higher) with strong knowledge of Ethiopian criminal, family, and procedural law related to GBV.
• Demonstrated experience in legal practice, judicial training, or capacity‑building activities.
• Understanding of survivors’ rights, due process, and judicial independence.
• Ability to translate legal concepts into practical training for judges.
