Movement Operations Assistant (Field Support)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Movement Operations Assistant (Field Support) to provide on‑site assistance for the organized movement of migrants and refugees. The role is based in the field and supports airport, transit centre and camp operations, ensuring travel documentation and procedures are correctly managed.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake field support activities in assigned areas such as airports, transit centres, third‑party facilities, camps or sub‑offices.
• Provide custodial care of travel documentation, verify identities, exit permissions, visas, tickets and other items in travel bags.
• Assist with airport formalities including check‑in, luggage handling, immigration procedures, security screening and customs clearance.
• Escort arriving individuals to ground transportation and departing individuals to departure gates, confirming flight departures visually.
• Ensure individuals with special needs or equipment receive appropriate support.
• Send notifications using relevant IOM systems and assist individuals at transit centres as required.

Required profile

• Works under the general supervision of the Senior Movement Operations Manager and the direct supervision of the National Associate Operations Officer.
• Able to operate in field environments such as airports, transit centres and camps.
• Capable of handling sensitive documentation and interacting with migrants, refugees and authorities.
