National Associate Movement Operations Officer

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Associate Movement Operations Officer to lead its movement operations in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the Senior Movement Operations Manager and under the general supervision of the Head of Programs, the officer will ensure the safe and efficient travel of migrants and refugees under IOM’s mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise up to three teams handling field support, movements, data processing and compliance activities across Ethiopia.
• Oversee staff development, including recruitment, training, task assignment and performance feedback.
• Manage airport services for arriving and departing individuals, covering documentation, luggage handling, escorts and special assistance.
• Ensure high‑quality service delivery, maintain appropriate interaction with airport and government officials, and resolve urgent operational issues.
• Monitor work schedules, validate staff hours and guarantee accurate completion of operational tasks.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in migration or movement operations, preferably within an international or humanitarian context.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of airport procedures, documentation requirements and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with government and airport authorities.
