National Consultant – Gender Statistics Assessment

About the role

UN Women is seeking a National Consultant to lead an assessment of gender statistics production, analysis, dissemination and use at both national and regional levels. The consultant will identify gaps in existing data systems and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen gender‑responsive statistical frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of gender‑related data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination practices.
• Identify gaps and weaknesses in current gender statistics systems at national and regional levels.
• Prepare analytical reports and policy briefs outlining findings and recommendations.
• Support capacity‑building initiatives for national statistical offices and UN partners.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and ensure alignment with UN Women’s gender‑statistics agenda.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in statistics, gender studies, economics, social sciences or a related field.
• Proven experience in gender statistics, data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with UN processes, international development and gender‑equality frameworks.
• Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
