Programme Specialist – Violence Prevention (Addis Ababa)

About the role

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a Programme Specialist to provide high‑level technical expertise and strategic coordination to the African Union Commission. The role supports the elimination of violence against women and girls (VAWG), eradication of harmful practices, and advancement of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Africa under the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme (SIARP 2.0).

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the African Union Commission to align regional policies with international standards.
• Lead technical support for VAWG elimination, harmful practice eradication, and SRHR promotion.
• Facilitate advocacy, external relations, communications, partnership‑building and resource mobilisation.
• Monitor and report on programme results, ensuring compliance with UNFPA standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in programme coordination, gender equality, or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and uphold UN values.
