Project Cashier

About the role

The Project Cashier will join ACCESS’s finance team in Addis Ababa, supporting the daily cash management of project funds. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that all cash transactions are processed accurately, securely, and in line with donor and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, count, and disburse cash for project supplies, services and field activities.
• Maintain up‑to‑date cash books and reconcile cash balances regularly.
• Prepare payment vouchers and ensure complete documentation for all financial movements.
• Collaborate with project staff to process payments and support the finance team in report preparation.
• Assist with internal and external audits and promptly report any discrepancies.
• Safeguard cash, monitor cash levels and uphold strict confidentiality and internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cash handling, record keeping or basic accounting, preferably in a non‑profit or project‑based environment.
• Ability to work accurately under deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Understanding of financial policies, internal controls and donor compliance in humanitarian settings.
• BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is an advantage.
• Commitment to ethical conduct, transparency and respect for diversity.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Addis Ababa on a full‑time basis.
