Roving Coordinator, Resource Mobilization in Emergencies

About the role

The Roving Coordinator will provide surge‑based leadership for partnerships and resource mobilisation across emergency operations in Africa. Deployed rapidly to priority humanitarian contexts, the role supports the launch, scale‑up and sustainment of funding for IFRC Emergency Appeals and DREF operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and expand a network of strategic partners and donors ready to support emergency operations across Africa.
• Strengthen tools, systems and processes for emergency fundraising and ensure they are ready for surge deployment.
• Support country clusters and National Societies in pre‑positioning mobilisation strategies, donor engagement plans and emergency funding frameworks.
• Facilitate joint positioning with governments and Development Finance Institutions to access emergency and resilience financing.
• Deploy rapidly to priority emergencies to lead on‑the‑ground resource mobilisation, coordinating blended financing involving governments, development banks and private sector partners.
• Provide timely, accurate information to donors on appeals, funding gaps and operational priorities.
• Participate in coordination mechanisms with regional offices, country clusters, National Societies and global IFRC departments.
• Convene donor briefings, partner calls and coordination teleconferences to ensure continuous engagement.
• Maintain post‑deployment support to sustain funding coverage and partner engagement across Africa.
