Senior Demand Promotion for Immunization Consultant

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior consultant to lead demand promotion for immunisation across Ethiopia. The consultant will work at the national level to increase public acceptance and uptake of routine vaccines, newly introduced vaccines and outbreak response campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for demand‑generation activities for routine immunisation, new vaccine introductions and vaccine‑preventable disease outbreak responses.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based social and behaviour change (SBC) strategies, including community engagement and social listening systems.
• Monitor, document and report on the effectiveness of demand‑generation interventions.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Federal Ministry of Health and other partners to coordinate activities.
• Strengthen the interpersonal communication and community engagement capacity of frontline health workers.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, health communication, social sciences or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in immunisation demand generation, health communication or social‑behavior change programmes, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Proven experience designing and implementing SBC interventions at national scale.
• Familiarity with the Ethiopian health system and vaccine delivery context is an advantage.
