Senior Industrial Electrician

About the role

We are seeking a senior industrial electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, equipment and machinery at our Debre Birhan glass manufacturing plant. The role ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical installations while supporting continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems, machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime and production interruptions.
• Install, test, maintain and repair wiring, control panels, motors, switches and other electrical components.
• Identify and resolve failures in PLC‑controlled equipment and automation systems, including sensors, I/O and field devices.
• Carry out electrical inspections, read and interpret drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Support installation, commissioning, modification and upgrading of plant electrical equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare parts logs and equipment condition reports.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other safe isolation procedures before work.

Required profile

• BSc Degree or TVET Level 5 in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years (BSc) or 5 years (TVET) of relevant experience, preferably as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical operation, maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure in a continuous production environment and collaborate with production, mechanical and engineering teams.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
• Industrial automation components such as sensors, contactors and protection devices.
• Electrical wiring, control panels and motor installation.
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
