Senior Nurse

About the role

The Senior Nurse position is a full‑time, on‑site role at Teklehaimanot General Hospital in Addis Ababa. The incumbent will lead nursing activities within assigned units, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care in line with hospital policies and clinical protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee patient care, assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and administer medications and treatments.
• Coordinate nursing activities, supervise and mentor nursing staff, and support training and competency development.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence‑based, integrated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, use hospital records systems, and ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards.
• Promote patient and family education, contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives, and manage multiple patients and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Several years of post‑licensure nursing experience, preferably in a senior or charge nurse capacity within a hospital setting.
• Proven experience supervising, mentoring, and delegating tasks to nursing teams.
• Strong clinical nursing skills in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and outcome monitoring.
• Effective communication, critical‑thinking, and the ability to remain calm during emergencies.
• Commitment to patient‑centered care, cultural sensitivity, and a respectful, non‑discriminatory work environment.
• Willingness to work full‑time on‑site, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
