Senior Project Associate – Reintegration (Affiliate Contractor)

About the role

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration) and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (Reintegration and Economic Inclusion), the Senior Project Associate will support the smooth implementation of IOM’s reintegration assistance activities in the Jimma zone, Oromia region. The role links individual assistance, community‑based initiatives and livelihood opportunities to ensure timely follow‑up and effective referrals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor reintegration activities for returnees in the designated area, ensuring alignment with IOM’s standards and local market conditions.
• Facilitate referrals to government services, NGOs and private‑sector partners, strengthening partnerships and community engagement.
• Collect and analyse data on economic self‑sufficiency, social stability and psychosocial well‑being to inform programme adjustments.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least seven years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with four years of professional experience.
• Proven experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons or victims of trafficking, providing counseling and referral pathways.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with government counterparts, NGOs, international organisations and the private sector.
• Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written); knowledge of Afaan Oromo or Tigrigna is desirable.
