Senior Supply & Logistics Associate (G-7) – Fixed Term

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Senior Supply & Logistics Associate (G‑7) on a fixed‑term basis to support its logistics operations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role reports to the Supply and Logistics Officer and focuses on managing shipping, air freight, customs clearance and related insurance matters for humanitarian supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide input and support for customs clearance and shipping activities, coordinating with global forwarding agents and suppliers.
• Participate in forecasting, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of supply‑chain operations, including performance indicator development.
• Handle all correspondence and documentation for offshore sea and air shipments, ensuring compliance with UNICEF procedures.
• Manage air‑port and seaport clearance processes through regular follow‑up with government authorities and clearing agents.
• Maintain contacts with local government and programme partners to expedite customs procedures and monitor bonded stock status.
• Oversee direct handovers to implementing partners, updating Vision system details and providing country‑specific shipping guidance (packing, containerisation, mode of shipment, routing).
• Advise on shipping instructions for offshore purchase orders and monitor collection of shipping modes.

Required profile

• Experience in supply‑chain logistics, customs clearance and international shipping.
• Ability to work under general supervision and collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling documentation and follow‑up activities.
