Strategic Planning & Analysis Analyst (JPO)

About the role

The Strategic Planning and Analysis Analyst, reporting to the Director of DDR, will support UNDP’s Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme in Ethiopia. The role combines political and conflict analysis with strategic communication to ensure the programme remains responsive to local realities and aligned with national priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor national and sub‑national political and conflict dynamics, providing regular updates on trends that may affect DDR implementation.
• Produce conflict‑sensitive strategic communication materials and ensure coherent messaging for national, regional and international stakeholders.
• Support the DDR team in resource mobilisation and partnership engagement by delivering evidence‑based analysis.
• Coordinate with the National Rehabilitation Commission and other government actors to align outreach and outreach strategies.
• Contribute to the development of monitoring, learning and accountability frameworks for the DDR programme.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in political science, international relations, peacebuilding or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in political risk analysis, conflict sensitivity or strategic communication in complex environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure and to produce high‑level analytical reports.
• Familiarity with Ethiopia’s political context and the broader Horn of Africa is an asset.
