WASH Officer (NO-2) – Temporary (6 months)

About the role
The WASH Officer (NO‑2) will support UNICEF’s emergency preparedness and response activities in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. Working under the guidance of the WASH Specialist, the officer will contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of water, sanitation and hygiene interventions that protect children, mothers and vulnerable communities during crises.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in drafting and updating situation analyses and WASH‑related outcome and output results.
- Conduct research on WASH trends and produce technical reports to inform programme planning and evaluation.
- Support the development of WASH strategies by analysing sector needs and priorities.
- Provide technical and administrative assistance throughout all programme phases, including preparation of documentation, transaction processing and compliance with UNICEF procedures.
- Monitor programme progress, collect data, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background in water, sanitation, hygiene, public health or a related field.
- Experience in WASH emergency programmes, preferably in humanitarian settings.
- Ability to work under supervision, follow guidelines and meet tight deadlines.
Required skills
- Knowledge of WASH sector standards and emergency response protocols.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
