African Union Commission Chairperson's Youth Envoy

About the role

The African Union Commission is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as the Chairperson’s Youth Envoy for a two‑year fixed‑term. Reporting directly to the Chairperson’s Cabinet, the Envoy will act as the principal advocate for Africa’s youth, ensuring their voices shape continental policies and programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate dialogue between young people, youth networks and the AU leadership.
• Promote and monitor the implementation of youth‑related commitments under AU Agenda 2063.
• Coordinate with the Women, Gender and Youth Division to align youth initiatives with broader gender and development strategies.
• Represent the AU in regional and international forums on youth development.
• Provide strategic advice to the Chairperson on youth issues and emerging trends.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in youth policy, advocacy or programme management at national or continental level.
• Strong understanding of the African Union’s structures, Agenda 2063 and youth‑related frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and influence senior decision‑makers.
