Card Registrar – Patient Registration Specialist

About the role

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is seeking a Card Registrar to manage patient registration and record creation at its health facilities in Gode. The role ensures that every client’s information is accurately captured in both manual registries and electronic health information systems, supporting high‑quality care and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Register all patients in paper registral books and the electronic EMR/HMIS system according to facility protocols.
• Assign unique medical record numbers and maintain consistency across manual and digital records.
• Create and file patient cards for new clients, managing their physical storage and retrieval.
• Enter patient data, services provided, referrals and outcomes promptly into the EMR.
• Perform routine data cleaning, resolve inconsistencies between paper and electronic files, and ensure synchronized records.
• Guide patients through the registration process, direct them to appropriate service points and assist with queue management.

Required profile

• High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
• Good communication skills to interact with patients and staff.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to safeguarding policies.
• Basic literacy in English and familiarity with local health documentation.

Required skills

• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Familiarity with Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
• Proficient data entry and record‑keeping abilities.
