Chief Field Officer – Fixed Term (Ethiopia)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as Chief Field Officer for its Oromia and Assosa field offices in Ethiopia on a fixed‑term basis. The role provides technical and operational leadership, overseeing programme delivery, warehouse and inventory management, and coordination with UNICEF’s country office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the total programme commitment of the assigned field office, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s country programme plan and strategic vision.
• Represent UNICEF in the Area of Responsibility, fostering partnerships with government, NGOs and community stakeholders.
• Oversee programme sectors and operational service teams, monitoring performance and quality of results.
• Provide technical and operational support for warehouse operations, including storage, inventory control and distribution of supplies.
• Collaborate with the Chief Field Operations and the Representative to develop and implement field‑level strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in field‑based programme management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.
• Strong understanding of UNICEF’s policies, procedures and results‑based management.
• Experience in warehouse and inventory management is highly desirable.
