Child Protection Consultant – UNICEF (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Child Protection Consultant will work under the guidance of the Program Specialist at the UNICEF Office to the African Union and ECA. The role focuses on supporting the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Program 2.0 and ensuring child protection programmes are effectively designed, implemented, and monitored.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development, planning and strategic partnership building.
• Provide technical and operational assistance for programme implementation.
• Monitor progress, evaluate results and contribute to advocacy efforts.
• Facilitate networking, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.
• Ensure children and young people remain central to all interventions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in development, peace and conflict, economics, psychology, sociology or a related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years of professional experience in child protection, child rights, human rights, gender studies, development or related social sciences.
• Proven experience in programme planning, management and research.
