Communications Intern

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a Communications Intern to support internal communication initiatives in its Addis Ababa office. This six‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in creating and disseminating communication materials for staff across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and distributing internal communications such as announcements, digital flyers, and intranet updates.
• Support promotion of events, trainings, and HR campaigns organized by the HR Management System.
• Contribute to introducing new staff members through internal channels.
• Adapt and disseminate global HR messages for ECA staff while ensuring alignment with branding guidelines.
• Monitor staff engagement with communications and propose improvements.
• Research and suggest creative approaches to enhance internal communications.
• Assist with content formatting, simple visual design, and media creation using available tools.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Educational background in communication, graphic design, or content creation is desirable.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an advantage.
