CPIE Officer – Child Protection

About the role

The CPIE Officer will lead the implementation of Plan International’s child protection policy and programmes in a protection area (PA) and/or refugee camp. Working closely with volunteers, community structures and partner organisations, the officer will be the organisation’s sole representative at the grassroots level, ensuring that children’s rights are protected and that emergency response programmes are effectively coordinated.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor child protection policies and programmes in the assigned area.
• Coordinate with the Humanitarian Transition Programme (HTP) and other country emergency response initiatives.
• Manage the allocated budget in collaboration with other child protection and youth officers.
• Work directly with volunteer social workers, community leaders and partner organisations.
• Maintain regular contact with beneficiary communities and ensure safeguarding standards are upheld.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Development Studies or related fields.
• Minimum 3 years of humanitarian aid experience in emergency or recovery settings, focusing on child protection, GBV, adolescent or youth programmes.
• Strong knowledge of child protection and GBV minimum standards, case management and MHPSS.
• Familiarity with donor grant and contract regulations.
• Fluency in English and Amharic; additional local languages are a plus.
