Critical Care Anesthesiologist

About the role

Debre Berhan University is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join its university hospital. The role combines peri‑operative anesthesia delivery with intensive care management for critically ill patients, supporting complex surgical procedures and teaching activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑operative assessments and administer anesthesia for major and emergency surgeries.
• Monitor patients intra‑operatively and post‑operatively, ensuring safe recovery and pain control.
• Manage critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, including ventilator support and hemodynamic stabilization.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with surgeons, critical‑care nurses, and other clinicians.
• Contribute to teaching of medical students and residents, and support quality‑improvement and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with residency training in Anesthesiology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in peri‑operative anesthesia and intensive care settings.
• Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence‑based medicine.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and teaching abilities.
