Driver for UN Office in Addis Ababa

About the role

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Addis Ababa is seeking a professional driver to transport UN staff, visitors and official documents safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Drive UN vehicles safely, adhering to protocols and local traffic regulations.
• Transport officials, visitors and parcels between the office, ministries, embassies and other institutions.
• Assist with airport arrivals, immigration and customs formalities for official personnel.
• Perform routine vehicle checks, minor repairs, cleaning and log mileage, fuel and maintenance activities.
• Handle minor purchases, collect urgent supplies and manage customs clearance for goods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s licence with training and a proven safe‑driving record.
• Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Familiarity with local roads, security considerations and UN protocol for transporting officials.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English; French is an asset.
