Economic Recovery Assistant

About the role

The Economic Recovery Assistant supports the Economic Recovery Officer in delivering livelihood and financial inclusion programmes for refugees and host‑community members in the Assosa field office. The role combines field‑level implementation, beneficiary support, and data management to ensure programmes are inclusive, gender‑sensitive and accountable.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and registering new Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and provide regular mentoring and record‑keeping oversight.
• Support the rollout of income‑generating activities, vocational training and business development sessions.
• Organise input distributions, technical training in agriculture, small livestock and micro‑enterprise.
• Mobilise beneficiaries, verify eligibility and facilitate the distribution of startup kits, grants and livelihood inputs.
• Collect, monitor and report programme data to track progress and outcomes.
• Act as liaison between communities, refugee committees and local partners, gathering feedback and ensuring inclusive participation.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in community‑based economic recovery, micro‑finance or livelihood programmes.
• Strong understanding of gender‑sensitive and protection‑based approaches.
• Ability to work independently in a field environment and travel to remote kebeles.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
