Finance Manager

About the role

MAXAM is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial operations for its mining and civil engineering projects in Ethiopia. The role combines financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and compliance to support strategic decision‑making across site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting and financial processes, ensuring accurate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end reporting.
• Prepare and present financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cost‑control activities for project operations.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis to aid management decisions.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable, cash‑flow management and payment approvals.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, VAT, WHT and corporate income tax filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and strengthen internal control systems.
• Liaise with banks, auditors and regulatory authorities.
• Provide financial guidance to operational and project teams, including site finance support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Master’s a plus).
• 5–7 years of finance experience in manufacturing or mining, preferably in a mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, cost accounting and tax regulations.
• Proven ability in budgeting, financial analysis and reporting.
• Excellent English (C1) and ability to work in multicultural, remote site settings.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
• Practical experience with IFRS standards.
• Experience preparing VAT, WHT and corporate income tax submissions.
