Food Assistance Officer

About the role
The Food Assistance Officer oversees the planning, delivery, distribution, documentation and reporting of food, non‑food commodities and cash assistance in the field. Working closely with partners such as RRS, WFP, UNHCR and local refugee leadership, the officer ensures that assistance reaches the most vulnerable beneficiaries.
Key responsibilities
- Manage commodity and cash inventories, flag discrepancies and coordinate disposal of unfit items.
- Prepare and approve distribution plans, conduct spot checks at Final Distribution Points and ensure proper equipment functioning.
- Implement and monitor the Last Mile Mobile Solution Item Tracking System (LMMS‑ITS) for donor reporting.
- Produce daily and monthly distribution reports, conduct monitoring visits and document project impact on child wellbeing.
- Supervise Commodity Officers, Distribution Food Supervisors, casual workers and incentive staff.
Required profile
- Experience in humanitarian food assistance or commodity management.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including UN agencies and local leadership.
- Strong organizational skills for planning, inventory control and reporting.
- Capacity to supervise field teams and ensure compliance with program guidelines.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the LMMS‑ITS tracking system.
