Gender & Management Support Consultant for RESIslands Initiative

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa seeks a Consultant to provide gender‑responsive management support for the RESIslands Initiative, a multi‑country climate‑resilience project covering nine African island states. The role is based in Addis Ababa and lasts six months, with a possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Management Unit (PMU) with overall project coordination and implementation of country‑level activities.
• Integrate gender‑responsive approaches across all project components, ensuring mainstreaming of gender issues.
• Organise workshops, high‑level events, and official missions for stakeholders.
• Support reporting, monitoring, evaluation, and resource mobilisation aligned with AISCC priorities.
• Contribute to the development and operationalisation of the AISCC online portal.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project management and coordination, preferably in climate‑risk or development contexts.
• Demonstrated expertise in gender mainstreaming and gender‑responsive practices.
• Ability to work closely with UN agencies, government ministries, and regional bodies.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
