Health Data Science Course Developer

About the role

Afro Health & Tech Consultancy, which connects healthcare and technology to strengthen health systems across Africa and beyond, is hiring a full-time, on-site Health Data Science Course Developer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role designs and develops health data science curricula for health professionals and technologists in low-resource settings, working with subject matter experts to bring in real-world case studies, data sets and practical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop health data science curricula, including learning objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, assessments and supporting materials.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate real-world case studies, data sets and practical projects reflecting African health system challenges.
• Conduct needs assessments and update course content to align with current best practices.
• Coordinate with trainers and ensure courses are accessible, engaging and outcomes-driven.
• Collect and analyze learner feedback and performance data to refine course quality and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Experience creating structured, outcome-focused learning programs.
• Ability to design interactive, learner-centered content and assessments for diverse audiences.
• Experience in health data science, public health, biostatistics or health informatics; familiarity with data tools such as Python, R or SQL is an advantage.
• Prior work in low-resource or African health system contexts is an advantage.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field (Data Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, Education or comparable) strongly preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively on-site in Addis Ababa, manage multiple projects and adapt content for different learner levels.
