Health Officer

About the role

World Vision Ethiopia is recruiting a Health Officer on a local fixed-term basis. The postholder plans, implements, monitors, supervises and reports on emergency health interventions at health facility, outreach and community levels, ensuring quality primary health care, strengthening disease prevention and outbreak response, supporting capacity building of health workers and improving health system performance in line with national guidelines and project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver outpatient and inpatient consultations, manage acute, chronic and life-threatening illnesses per national protocols, and support sick children under IMNCI and ICCM guidelines
• Support ANC, PNC, delivery, newborn care, family planning and immunization; strengthen referral mechanisms for obstetric emergencies
• Train and supervise health workers, HEWs and community volunteers, prepare training plans and TORs, and support community health volunteers
• Run disease surveillance, outbreak detection and response, update surveillance charts, and support public health emergency management
• Ensure availability of essential medicines, IEHK supplies, IPC materials and HMIS tools, supervise environmental health and IPC, and monitor OPD, MCH and surveillance units
• Coordinate with Woreda Health Offices, facilities and stakeholders, and report weekly, monthly and quarterly activity reports and HMIS data

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in risk identification, outbreak detection, PHEM, OPD consultation, ICCM/IMNCI, maternal health and supply chain management
• Medical doctor with at least three years of relevant experience
• Certificates in EDKs management, PHEM, MHPSS and IPC are an asset
• Frequent travel to project sites and to NO as needed; English and knowledge of the local language are advantageous
