International Consultant – Editor‑In‑Chief for African Migration Report (AMR III)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an experienced International Consultant to serve as Editor‑In‑Chief for the third edition of the African Migration Report (AMR III). The consultant will lead the editorial process, ensure rigorous analysis, and shape the narrative on African migration across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full editorial workflow for AMR III, from concept development to final publication.
• Coordinate with the African Union Commission, Regional Economic Communities, AfDB and other partners to gather data, research, and insights.
• Ensure the report reflects evidence‑based policy recommendations and balances diverse African perspectives.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of researchers, writers, and reviewers.
• Maintain high standards of academic and journalistic quality, including citation integrity and data visualization.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in migration studies, international relations, development, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale research publications or policy reports.
• Strong understanding of African migration dynamics, intra‑continental mobility, and related development issues.
• Excellent communication skills in English; ability to work with multi‑stakeholder environments.
