IT Technician – First‑line Support for Remote Mining Site

About the role

Mota-Engil is looking for an IT Technician to deliver first‑line technical support for its mining operations in the Benishangul‑Gumuz region. The role ensures the reliability, availability and security of IT systems across a remote mine site.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line support to site users, installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers and mobile devices.
• Maintain LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and Internet connectivity, supporting switches, access points, firewalls and structured cabling.
• Support Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) and manage user accounts and permissions.
• Monitor IT systems, record incidents, update asset registers and produce technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with corporate IT and cybersecurity policies and assist with on‑site technical assistance across offices and camp facilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in IT support or help‑desk roles, preferably in mining, construction or other remote‑site environments.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) and a valid driving licence (preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving, customer‑service orientation and ability to work independently in remote conditions.

Required skills

• Operating system: Windows 11.
• Microsoft technologies: Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive.
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi‑Fi, switching fundamentals, structured cabling basics.
• Hardware: desktop/laptop troubleshooting, printers, scanners, mobile devices.
• Security: basic cybersecurity principles, Fortinet solutions (preferred), IT asset management.
