Marketing System Development Officer

About the role

The Marketing System Development Officer will work on‑site in Addis Ababa to translate strategic guidance into concrete actions that strengthen market systems for SMEs, cooperatives and youth enterprises. The role involves close interaction with local market actors, financial institutions and private‑sector partners to facilitate market access and entrepreneurship.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise marketing workflows and automation to support customer acquisition and engagement.
• Conduct market systems analysis, mapping and assessment to identify linkage opportunities for rural producers and processing enterprises.
• Build and manage partnerships with suppliers, buyers and off‑takers, providing commercialisation support and business coaching.
• Monitor performance of emerging SMEs and youth cooperatives, delivering business planning assistance and regular reporting.
• Coordinate with the Economic Programming and Private Business Partnerships Advisor to ensure alignment with programme objectives.

Required profile

• BA/BSc in Rural Development, Business Administration, Development Economics, Market Systems Development or related field; MA/MSc desirable.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in an international NGO or similar development environment.
• Demonstrated experience in market systems development and resilient livelihoods frameworks.
• Strong organisational, documentation and process‑improvement abilities.
